1. What is my part in contracting to build a
new house?
When you get ready to build your new home, you play a significant part in
the building process. You need to find land, get plans, arrange for bids
from contractors, arrange for financing, sign a contract, and select all of
the following things: exterior, roof type, windows, flooring (carpet,
linoleum, tile, wood), cabinets, paint colors, trim style, and color, type
of ceiling, type of finish on the walls, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures,
counter tops, appliances, heating and air conditioning system, doors,
driveway and landscape, and much more. The good news is we can help you in
each of these phases with our 16 years of experience in the custom home
building market.

2. How can I get land?

Finding land can be an increasingly difficult task in this day and age. As
part of our services, we now have some property available. Should we not
have a site you like, we will work with real estate specialists to assist
you in finding the right parcel.
3. Where can I find plans?
Finding the right plans is not a difficult task. There are plenty of
ready-made plans available. If you can find a sketch or floor plan that is
close to your dream, we can have our architect make changes to fit your
lifestyle. We have full design services to make sure you get just the plan
you want. Click here for more information.
4. What does it cost to build a home?
Costs related to construction vary greatly based on the style of
construction and what choices you make when selecting your various choices.
Many of the items, in our bid price, provide an allowance for selecting
whatever level you want. If you select an item that is more expensive than
the allowance, you will make up the difference beyond the contracted price.
If what you select is below the allowance, the extra will be available for
other items or can be used to lower the cost of the overall contract. For
example: kitchen and bath cabinets may have an allowance of $15,000, but you
select carefully and they come in at $13,500. That extra $1,500 could be
used for upgrading your carpeting or lowering your overall price of the
home.
5. Why is your bid higher than the competition?
In many cases, what may appear to be a more expensive ends up being much
less expensive. You need to compare the fine print carefully on the bids.
When you receive a bid from us, that bid is accurate. We do not use low
allowance values for things like carpeting and cabinets. Make sure when you
compare bids that you know what they are offering.
6. Do I have to stick with your choices for plumbing and electrical
fixtures, or can I find my own?
The home we build together is YOUR home. The choices of what gets installed
inside that home will effect you for a long time. We want you to have
exactly what you want within your budget. We have arrangements with our
suppliers and sub-contractors that help provide you with the lowest cost
alternatives within your budget.
7. How long does it take to build a house?
An excellent question! The answer is not so easy to provide. Some smaller,
simple structured homes can be built in as little as 5 months. Some of the
larger, complex structures have taken as long as 15 months to complete. Each
job is a function of the design of the house itself.
8. How can I be assured you will build me a home I will like?
Your best assurance that we will build the home the way you want it built is
for you to contact the references we provide. We will provide you with the
most recently completed 10 homes, but can also provide you with older homes
as well. As you talk to people, you will get a good sense about any builder,
because we all have a reputation, good or bad. We believe you will find out
that we strive to be the best builder you could possibly get to build your
home.

We are also a
member of Guild Quality, an independent quality assurance company that
surveys each of our customers for us to gauge quality and satisfaction. We

this company. Click the logo above to visit the Guild Quality website.
9. I'm not good at picking out colors and styles. Do you help in that
process?
Many people are not as versed at selecting colors that work together as some
of the professionals
we ask with. You'll find the suppliers we use are extremely knowledgeable
and helpful in finding solutions that will work well together. We also
provide free in-store interior decorating assistance with our interior
decorator at our home interior store.
10. Am I limited in my choice of roofing material, exterior finish,
windows, cabinets, and counter tops, or can I get pretty much whatever I
want?
You are not limited in your choices of any of these items. We will do a
detailed list of all customer selections before pricing houses with all
persons concerned in the house building project. We are a custom builder and
do not have stock or standard items.
11. What type of warranty do I get with my new house?
We provide a written warranty program and warranty coverage for ten years
through membership in the 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty®. Click their logo below
